out-rebounding, out-hustling, out physicaling, smarter coaching decisions, better guard play, and poise down the stretch are all adding up to 5-0 and 1st place in the Big 12 conference.
I think we might be starting to see the beginning of a syracuse-esq type run. Kansas State, for the rest of the season, anytime they step on the floor they will without a doubt have the best player on the floor and against all but maybe 2 or 3 teams (none in the big 12) will have the 2nd best player on the floor. All it takes is a few role players and solid point guard play to complete the picture and K-State is beginning to see it.
Admitedly it has taken a few months for a team with 9, yes Nine, new players (7 freshmen) and a new head coach who had never lead a team above the highschool level to get it going but get it going they have with dominant performances in the last 4 big 12 games. The key going forward is learning to deal with success and now being the hunted where you get everyone’s best shot (although last night we did show we can beat a highly ranked team’s best possible game).
This is gonna be fun.
P.S. some of the better signs at the game:
“Take me to your leader 3″
“Is that sharron collins or mark mangino?”
