Please God, just allow 2 weeks to go by where the university of kansas doesn’t embarrass itself and the state of kansas as a whole. i realize its hard for a school that emerses itself in sleaze and thugs and soul-selling in order to win, but I plead that somehow, someway, just a few short weeks will go by and i dont have to read or hear about another player arrest, athletic dept violation, or recruitment of a felon/ineligible player from this trash heap of a university.
Amen
KU’s Chalmers, Arthur booted from NBA program after marijuana found

LAWRENCE | Former Kansas basketball players Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers were kicked out of the NBA’s rookie transition program on Wednesday after being caught with marijuana in their hotel room in Rye Brook, N.Y., sources told ESPN The Magazine.
Sources told the magazine that Chalmers, a Miami Heat point guard, and Arthur, a Memphis Grizzlies forward, were also fined $20,000 apiece and will begin the season on the league’s suspended list. McIntyre would not confirm that to the magazine.
The initial ESPN report said that former Kansas State player and No. 2 overall pick Michael Beasley was in the room, but later reports removed the reference to Beasley being present. The earlier report said Beasley was deemed not to be connected to the marijuana.
Thus far, the decision to leave early for the NBA has not benefited Chalmers and Arthur. Both players were picked later than they would have liked – Arthur fell to New Orleans at No. 27 overall and Chalmers fell out of the first round before being taken at No. 34 by Minnesota.
Now, they have been asked to leave the NBA’s rookie transition program, a four-day seminar which informs 69 rookies about life in the league.
The magazine said that Chalmers and Arthur will have to go through the program again next season.

i’m sure they were totally clean while at ukans too….i’ll give their athletic dept credit, they know how to keep this stuff under wraps…couple this with talib’s admission there is nothing else to conclude but that this school continues to follow a path of complete disregard for rules or the law in general.

NEW YORK — Miami Heat rookie Michael Beasley was fined $50,000 by the NBA on Thursday after acknowledging that he was involved in an incident involving teammate Mario Chalmers and Memphis’ Darrell Arthur at the Rookie Transition Program this month.
The NBA said Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick, originally failed to cooperate with the league investigation of the matter. The Heat said Beasley eventually chose to reveal that he was part of the incident.

Beasley refusing to cooperate with league investigation? No, I can’t believe it….
I mean, KU may be dirty, but atleast we cooperate with league investigations. It takes a big man to admit when they are wrong. That, or they just have to get caught out right.

Kansas State running back Leon Patton remained Friday in the Riley County (Kan.) Jail on a $30,000 bond after he was arrested Thursday on a warrant of child abuse involving a 2-month-old boy. He is accused of shaking the boy.

Patton had been suspended indefinitely by Kansas State after an arrest earlier this summer. After the latest charge stemming from what police say was a July 15 incident, he was dismissed from the team early Friday.
Patton shook the baby “feloniously and intentionally,” according to the arrest warrant. Police spokesman Lt. Kurt Moldrup said the matter was reported to police when it happened, prompting an investigation. He would not provide information on the now-4-month-old boy’s whereabouts or condition.
Patton already had been suspended from the team after a July traffic stop led to the discovery of outstanding warrants from 2007, one for stealing two video games from a Wal-Mart. He also was cited for an unpaid parking ticket. After pleading no contest, Patton was sentenced to six months’ probation and fined $100.
Patton was the projected starting tailback for the Wildcats entering this season. He rushed for 390 yards and four touchdowns last season, but has not seen action during 2008.
He had rushed for 999 yards and 10 touchdowns during his first two seasons with the Wildcats.

Wow, so there is a history with this guy. Oustanding warrants, stealing, unpaid parking tickets. And yet, through all of it, he was still able to play football…until he ABUSED A CHILD!
I guess this shows KSU does have some standards and class after all. I mean if you steal or even have a history of breaking and running from the law, you’re still ok to play. But, shake a baby and you’re out! It is so refreshing to see that KSU holds strong and moral standards.
So, a word to all KSU players: Steal as much as you want, don’t pay your tickets as much as you want, heck run from the law and have warrants out…you can still play!!! Just don’t shake babies…
sheesh!

if Patton were at ukans, he’d probably just have to run a few laps and maybe sit out a quarter.
