seriously there is something wrong with me. my emotional well-being is tied up in sporting event results. its sad and pathetic and there is seemingly no cure. everything i root for has done nothing my whole life. the royals haven’t made the playoffs since i was 4 years old (which of course i would have no recollection of), the chiefs have done nothing but choke and haven’t made the superbowl ever in my life. and of course my beloved alma mater has essentially accomplished nothing with 1 single ncaa tournament victory since i was 8 years old and the football team has a lot of feel good seasons but no national champ. the worst part is every rival to the teams i like has accomplished so much more. like every team in the royals division has at least made the world series or the playoffs a number of times, every team in the chiefs division has been to or won the super bowl, and the spoiled chicken hawks have been to multiple ncaa tournament title games and even their football team won a bcs game last year. cursed am i. nothing can go right. kansas will win it all monday. its not fair. i’m jealous and all i can do is whine and moan. suck.

good thing for me there is only 2 weeks of school plus a day of finals left for me because with gas expected to reach $3/gal here in the next couple of weeks its gonna hurt to commute to manhattan so much. its getting close to being a $20 trip for me.
uh yeah reminder on graduation, its at 12:30pm saturday may 13th at bramlage. looks like i will miss a cum laude designation (at the ceremony) by .01 gradepoint average. i could still end up with it on my diploma depending on how things shake out when they add in this semester's grades. all of that also hinges on getting A's in both my classes, no certainty there.
hey the royals have lost 10 straight. good deal because i say if you are going to suck, you should go all out and try to set records doing it. last season we all remember the royals lost 19 straight games. the record in baseball is 23. the all time season worst record is 40-120(.250) by the '62 expansion mets, which at a solid 2-12(.143) start to the season the royals are well on pace for. could be a fun summer!

i'm already boycotting them for sucking until they have a winning month, but now that stupid stadium renovation tax passed so now the dumb taxpayers of jackson county missouri can pay $275 million to update the outdated concrete masterpiece that is kauffman stadium. whatever. least i'm not paying for it. it would be so much cooler to actually make a whole day out of going to a royals game, say downtown KC, instead of just an evening of taco bell or denny's then driving straight home after the game.
in other news my bowling average is at 143.6. i've been keeping track of it since last august. lately though i haven't been bowling that well. still well above that average but not as good as its been the past 3 months or so. kinda frustrating.
5 weeks left of school.
decided to forgo train conductor school till late june so i can enjoy a bit of the summer to take a vacation to seattle and visit jason (my roomie from kstate and all round good guy). once i plunge into train school its pretty much all career from there. so may as well give myself a 6 week break after graduation.

man its wonderful being back at kstate when it hits 70 degrees for the first time in the spring. all the lovely ladies come out to shine…especially at the baseball games. was able to see a couple of kstate baseball games the past few days and i enjoyed it mucho.
makes me want royals games to start soon so i can listen to them when i go biking again. speaking of the royals…i'm boycotting going to the games until they have a winning month. last time i did that was in 2003 and they came out hot! hope it happens again.
you might have noticed i put what i'm listening to and playing at the top of my post. i think i'll do that from now on. the listening thing is pretty much gonna be whatever cd is in my car cd player at the moment. thats when i usually listen to music.
will be happy when tomorrow is over…because that means my semester is half over! also this was the hardest week of the semester with projects due in both my classes this week. got a presentation tomorrow that i'm not so sure about.
fat tuesday came and went, managed to make it out to aggieville to celebrate with adam tiesen and a few of his friends. had some fun but really fat tuesday is no big deal to me. i think its more fun for girls.
ok thats it. Go Cats on Saturday…sweep!! I'll be there again, this time to storm the court!
out.

and just as i figured…
i attend my classes today and my cases course, the one that kstate switched my professor in, was everything i hoped it wouldn't be. Long story short, I really won't be able to be in manhattan often enough to be of any use to my group for all the cases that have to be done. So, i'm dropping my classes. I will re-enroll in the spring with the professor I originally wanted to go back for. He does not require nearly as much group work so I won't have to drive to manhattan and back as often.
So now I have to get a haircut and get a job. Which I will start doing tomorrow. Awesome.
Oh, and to make matters worse, the royals did win over the weekend. now nobody will care about them the rest of the season.

get your tickets now!
well i guess its been a week since my last royals update and yes, they still haven't won. This is getting to be very exciting. Because they have now lost 18 straight games, the royals now have a great shot of beating the all time consecutive loss streak of 23. Looking at the schedule, this is imminently doable. They play at oakland over the weekend then come home to play boston. The boston home series comes at a very fortuitous time. The tuesday game would set a new American league loss streak with 22. The wednesday game would tie the all time record, and of course thursday would officially set a new record. How awesome would that be to witness? I best order my tickets now, they could go fast. Best part is the royals travel to new york after that boston series so that way the royals could really put this record out of reach for the next team. And they said baseball in kansas city ended when chiefs camp began…shows them!

major suckage
the royals are shooting for their 13th straight loss tonight which would be a new team record. Although I am confident this will take place, it would all be so much more enjoyable if the team were on pace for the all time record for losses in a season. currently they are only on pace to lose between 107 and 108 games. I believe to set a new record they would need to lose 120. So, to get back on pace the royals need to lose 33 more games in a row. um, probably won't happen. It takes a real effort to lose that many.

hey, a sweep!
good job royals, first sweep in almost 2 years. and i was actually there to see it. good for me. i'm such a die hard. oh, and God bless the military. I was able to get in free with Chris because of him being in the military. To which I thanked him for. Then I thought about it for a second and i said he should be thanking me for the free tickets because its my taxes that actually pay for what he does. Chris thought that was funny. so did i.
in other news, i'm going to try and avoid processed sugars as much as I can. I think it gives me acid problems. Plus, its easily the worst thing for you. I always feel gross after eating high carb high processed suger things. I say processed because things like fruit with natural sugars I don't have an issue with. So yeah. There you go.
This was a pretty lame post. least its 5pm now.

nosotros creemos…the royals can set the all time record for losses
after what will be another loss today (5th straight) the royals will officially be on pace for 120 losses and the all time mlb record. solid. i believe. come on, together we can get this record.

Currently listening to: Sigur Ros-()
The KC Royals/KC Chiefs/Kansas State Wildcats fan.
Consider the past 20 years, which would be about the time i’ve followed all of these teams pretty closely and with a good amount of emotion.
First the Royals…
well no playoffs the past 20 seasons, 1 winning season in the last 13, and set major league baseball all-time futility records with 4 100-loss seasons out of 5, including 3 in a row from 04-06. Basically, I’ve never seen a “good” royals team…the only decent teams i’ve seen were in 1994 which of course ended in a strike just after the royals had won like 16 straight games and that improbable 2003 season where KC blew a 7 game division lead at the all star break and barely finished above .500. Along the way the royals have set all kinds of “worst bullpen ever” and “worst team ERA ever” and “most blown saves” type marks and also managed to lose 19 games in a row back in 2005. Brutal. But at least I never really had my heart broken with the royals, its hard to when you expect so little and never play in any big games. I will always be a diehard royals fan, but lately i find myself only making it to a few games each summer when i used to go to 10-15 games easily. If nothing else, it makes for an entertaining listen to see how the royals can find new ways to lose. There is some hope i guess with the dayton moore regime, but i’m not holding my breath.
The Chiefs…
Back in the 90s the Chiefs were consistently getting into the playoffs and one of the leagues better teams. Unfortunately though they were coached by Marty Schottenheimer who ruled the regular season and always fell apart in the playoffs. In fact KC has not won a playoff game since 1993 when Joe Montana led the chiefs all the way to the afc championship game in buffalo which they of course lost. I believe this “no playoff wins” streak is the longest in the nfl.
3 times the chiefs have had 13-3 seasons with homefield throughout the playoffs but lost their first round home games(95, 97, 03). The worst loss was the 95 game, the “Lin Elliot” game which KC lost 10-7 to the colts in a brutal cold game in which Elliot missed at least 3 chippy FG’s.
Since 97 KC has only made the playoffs twice (03, 06) and this year they look to be one of the worst teams in the nfl with no real hope for the future. I have long since given up my emotional tie to this team (after marty left i called it quits with my emotional investment) even though i still follow them.
Kansas State Wildcats
This takes everything to a whole new level. The royals have actually won a world series (although i was 4 and have no recollection), and the chiefs a superbowl (1969) so there is at least some past history of success to admire and fall back on. With KSU though, no dice. Kansas State has never won a National Championship in anything involving athletics, mens or womens, ever. http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/champs_listing1.html
In fact, out of the 6 BCS football conferences (big 12, big 10, pac 10, acc, sec, big east), only KSU, Virginia Tech, Mississippi, Mississippi St., Pittsburg, and S. Florida have not won a title in anything. So right out of the gate there is no history to fall back on. But its so much worse I dont even know where to begin. It will take another post, i’ll finish this later.
