another day, another story from the depths concerning the “win-and-make-money-at-all-costs” regime at the univ of kans.  at this point, its pretty laughable because its clear nothing will ever get in the way of big lew’s machine he’s built.  there won’t be suspensions for any games that matter, no scholarships pulled for anyone that contributes to winning, the thugs that run ukans will continue to do their thing because thats how the people of that university, city (lol at the cops and district attorney of lawrence consistently looking the other way), and fanbase want it.  and why not?  a great portion of the fanbase has never taken a class at ukans and thus don’t care about “academic integrity” or “image” or whether anything is done legitimiately and in good moral standing.  all that matters is the W’s.

and what of that?  winning is fun, sure.  but like promiscuous sex, it ultimately just leaves you wanting more and isn’t permanently satisfying.  especially when deep down you know its by nefarious means.  so it just keeps building and in ukans’ case they reach deeper by taking/paying any player necessary, letting the player do whatever they want,  so as to produce wins and bring in the cash.  i dont see anything changing at ukans whilst the big 3 of lew, mangino, and self are around.   if u are a ukans fan, enjoy it while it lasts.  yes, i like to joke about how KSU should do a lot of the same so as to sell our university’s soul for winning, but in the end i’m actually proud of where I graduated from and winning by cheating/probation/letting thugs run loose/ect doesn’t get it done for me.

Some Essential Pre-Wedding Updates

Wedding Update: now a week out, we are pretty much ready to go.  Abbie is finishing up decorations and putting together the program which I’ll go have printed this week.  Outside of that its time to get all our vendors together and go over the schedule and of course pay them all. Hopefully everyone involved comes through on all this.  Come next Friday it’ll be time for Abbie and I to just enjoy it and not worry about everything.

Job Update: the railroad has called back about 135 guys in the past few weeks (leaving me about 45 out).  though this is no indicator that the economy is turning but rather just the railroad covering themselves during the peak business months.  overall the carloadings are still down 18% from this time a year ago.  a few other factors are bringing some guys back, like the new rail safety bill Bush signed last fall went into effect which limited how many hours a month and how many days in a row guys can work.  so more manpower is required to cover the same amount of hours.  also the company is instituting a new safety program which needs some extra guys to make it happen.  anyway i may get to work a little this fall, but i still don’t think its going to completely turn till late next year.  pretty pathetic, it should not be this way but we have a moron in charge of our economy so I have to suffer.

Ukans cheating update: http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2009/jul/02/gary/

at the end of that article it talks about how local lawrence businessman/huge ukans booster Doug Compton is demanding his 3 pts./game son get to walk on at ukans.  this of course follows a long line of very rich white kids getting to walk on at ukans in order to continue an easy pipeline of money to players (whoops is that my satchel of cash i left behind in the locker room?).  Doug Compton has also given jobs to players parents, notably the morris’ twins mother and cole aldriches father.  Doug also payed for the emergency flight to xavier henry’s house a few weeks back to help deliver in full the payment to the henry’s after xavier’s father carl started balking at bill self for not being on board with the henry’s.  what a disgusting program they run at ukans, truely a school completely sold out for winning.  and yet the peon hawklets continue to shell out thousands to sweet lew for the right to sit in a dank urine and stale popcorn smelling “armory” not caring at all and mostly oblivious to how the strings are pulled.

Global Warming Update: In Kansas City today we had a record cold night with temperatures reaching 59 degrees and projections for 56 degrees overnight. This continues to be the coldest year in decades.  Cap and trade!  Cap and trade!

Presidential First Pitch Update: shortly after 9/11 President Bush threw out the first pitch at yankees stadium during the world series with the eyes of millions watching, thousands cheering, straped up with all kinds of bulletproof armor, and calmly fired a strike down the middle to a properly positioned catcher.

President Obama on the other hand coming out to a mixture of boos girl armed it and short hopped the pitch to a catcher positioned on top of home plate.  stick to the court barry.

Report: School district re-opens investigation into Arthur’s high school grades

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3635128

Updated: October 9, 2008, 10:42 PM ET

The Dallas Independent School District has re-opened an investigation into alleged improper grade changes for former star basketball player Darrell Arthur at South Oak Cliff High School, WFAA, the ABC affiliate in Dallas reported.  Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said he will ask for an outside independent review of the academic records of Arthur and his former teammates.

“There are too many questions at this time for us to just leave it alone,” Dr. Hinojosa said.

Arthur, who now plays for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, did not respond to requests for comment.  One of the nation’s top recruits, Arthur was a key player on ukansas’ (sleazy) national basketball championship team last season.

An investigation into a grade change for another athlete resulted in South Oak Cliff forfeiting the 2006 state basketball title. The school district, however, released a report two months ago that cleared South Oak Cliff staff and students of any further wrongdoings in the 2005 and 2007 state basketball championships.

WFAA-TV’s follow-up found investigators may have failed to interview witnesses and review algebra, English and theatre arts grades received by Arthur.

If the district finds Arthur did not have sufficient credits to graduate from high school, Kansas could have to forfeit any or all games involving him.

ukansas athletic department officials have said they believe that the investigation into Arthur would not affect the school’s basketball program. (of course they would say that)

My Prayer to God

Filed under: ukansas sleaze updates — Andy @ 8:56 pm

Please God, just allow 2 weeks to go by where the university of kansas doesn’t embarrass itself and the state of kansas as a whole.  i realize its hard for a school that emerses itself in sleaze and thugs and soul-selling in order to win, but I plead that somehow, someway, just a few short weeks will go by and i dont have to read or hear about another player arrest, athletic dept violation, or recruitment of a felon/ineligible player from this trash heap of a university.

Amen

KU’s Chalmers, Arthur booted from NBA program after marijuana found

http://www.kansascity.com/166/story/780112.html

By J. BRADY McCOLLOUGH
The Kansas City Star

LAWRENCE | Former Kansas basketball players Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers were kicked out of the NBA’s rookie transition program on Wednesday after being caught with marijuana in their hotel room in Rye Brook, N.Y., sources told ESPN The Magazine.

Sources told the magazine that Chalmers, a Miami Heat point guard, and Arthur, a Memphis Grizzlies forward, were also fined $20,000 apiece and will begin the season on the league’s suspended list. McIntyre would not confirm that to the magazine.

The initial ESPN report said that former Kansas State player and No. 2 overall pick Michael Beasley was in the room, but later reports removed the reference to Beasley being present. The earlier report said Beasley was deemed not to be connected to the marijuana.

Thus far, the decision to leave early for the NBA has not benefited Chalmers and Arthur. Both players were picked later than they would have liked – Arthur fell to New Orleans at No. 27 overall and Chalmers fell out of the first round before being taken at No. 34 by Minnesota.

Now, they have been asked to leave the NBA’s rookie transition program, a four-day seminar which informs 69 rookies about life in the league.

The magazine said that Chalmers and Arthur will have to go through the program again next season.

i’m sure they were totally clean while at ukans too….i’ll give their athletic dept credit, they know how to keep this stuff under wraps…couple this with talib’s admission there is nothing else to conclude but that this school continues to follow a path of complete disregard for rules or the law in general.

KU freshman charged with battery

The Capital-Journal
Published Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 3:41 p.m. CDT

LAWRENCE — Markieff Morris, an incoming freshman basketball player at Kansas, has been charged with battery after firing a BB gun and hitting a woman with a plastic BB on Aug. 16.

Morris, 18, was suspected of using alcohol, according to a police report. He has a hearing at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 in Lawrence Municipal Court.

A forward from Pennsauken, New Jersey, Morris and his twin brother Marcus, are scheduled to join the Kansas basketball team this fall, although neither has yet cleared the NCAA Clearinghouse. Originally from Philadeplphia, the twins moved to New Jersey to attend prep school and play basketball last season.

A police report indicates Morris used a three-foot BB gun worth $100. Police also found a medium-sized bag of BBs.

Morris is the third KU basketball player in the last year to find himself in the court system. Brandon Rush was arrested in December for failure to appear and Sherron Collins is currently facing a lawsuit.

couple things.  LOL obviously.  2nd, i can now see why self recruited this dude. to be able to hit a woman from a window with a bb gun while drunk is very impressive marksmanship and probably should translate to excellent long range shooting on the court.  if he qualifies…which should only take a couple of convenient grade changes i’m sure.

ukansas: bad for the environment

Filed under: ukansas sleaze updates — Andy @ 3:50 pm

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) – The University of Kansas has violated Environmental Protection Agency regulations for the second time in three years, the federal agency says.

Now, the EPA says it may fine the university(the epa should know by now vague threats/weak penalties won’t put ukansas back in line…after all, compliance doesn’t sell tickets)

“When you find the same things, it shows there is a pattern,” said David Bryan, a spokesman for the EPA’s regional office serving Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. “It shows there really haven’t been institutional things done to correct the problem.” (lack of institutional control? seems to be a theme at this school)

According to a 321-page report obtained by the Lawrence Journal-World through an open-records request, multiple possible violations were found at various university labs during a Dec. 12, 2007, inspection. The potential violations include failing to determine if some wastes produced by the school were hazardous; allowing incompatible chemicals to be stored on the same shelf; and operating as a hazardous waste treatment facility without a permit.

The report says that an EPA inspector found several open jugs of improperly labeled waste in a science building at the Lawrence campus. Inspectors also found chemicals being stored near each other that, if mixed, could lead to a fires and explosions, and a professor disposing of a couple of liters of 50 percent methanol cleaning solution into the city sewers. Methanol can be toxic to humans if ingested, according to the EPA.   (people should probably steer clear of all lakes/rives…who knows what might be living down there…)

University spokeswoman Lynn Bretz said university officials took the report seriously and were working with the EPA to fix any problems. However, Bretz said that the school would not comment on the specifics of the 2007 inspection report or the EPA’s charge that the university is a repeat offender.

Although the EPA has notified the university of 24 observed violations during the 2007 inspection, a final, official report has not been issued and no fines have been levied.

“It wouldn’t be responsible to discuss these issues at this point in time,” Bretz told the Journal-World.

The university was cited in 1994, 2000 and 2005 for failing to determine if some wastes were hazardous, something that was also cited in the 2007 inspection. In its response to the EPA after the 2005 citation, university officials tested the waste and everything was proven to be nonhazardous.

Bryan said the university needs to test and label items immediately to avoid confusion or harm.

Bryan said university officials were negotiating with the EPA on the extent of penalties the school will face. He said the EPA’s main concern is that the university fix the problems.

Mike Russell, director of Environment, Health and Safety for the university called the inspection and negotiations fairly common.

No timeline has been set for negotiations and an official filing of violations.©2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

In addition to needing your school’s ncaa record 5th basketball probation, a donor to give illegal benefits to a player, a deadbeat dad, a player who didn’t graduate highschool, an unqualified father of a player on your coaching staff to win a championship, you also need a fat SEXUAL PERVERT

I just don’t know if my school can ever keep up with this.

what KSU needs to do to achieve its own dirty, tainted, and sleazy national title

Filed under: K-State Sports, ukansas sleaze updates — Andy @ 2:01 am

1. find and recruit students who did not graduate highschool and had highschool administrators change grades for them so they were eligible to play basketball in college then play dumb that you had no idea what was going on. (ala D. Arthur)

2. have our donors give over $5000 in improper benefits to players in order to help recruit and facilitate the arrival of them to campus. (ala D. Jackson)

3. Pay recruits families directly by hiring their completely-unqualified-to-coach-at-division-I-level dads as staff members. “Uh uh uh sorry mario but uh uh we can’t give you a check uh directly but uh we can pay your dad and uh he can give you a uh nice uh allowance.” (ala M. Chalmers)

4. understaff our compliance dept so we can cheat easier and not report it for a longer period of time. (see lack of instituional control)

5. and while we are at it, we can recruit some dead-beat dads too, heck theres a lot of good ones in the nba. (ala B. Rush)

really, if Kansas State doesn’t step up to the plate and start cheating with the rest of college basketball, we are just going to keep getting left behind. long gone are the days of the “death penalty” or post season bans. The NCAA has way too much money coming from CBS and ABC to ban the supposed high profile teams from competing in their end of season competitions. So cheat, cheat, cheat away KSU. Cheat all the way to victory!!! and one day we can be the 2nd ever team to win a national title while on probation!
